Raised under the privilege of being Dan Scott's son, Nathan was the star player of his high school basketball team, the Tree Hill Ravens, and became threatened when his half-brother Lucas joined team. Nathan and Lucas had a relationship based on rivalry until eventually a building up a friendship, which later turned into loving brotherhood. Nathan initially dated Peyton but after they broke up, he used Haley to annoy Lucas, but ended up falling in love with her. They eventually married and had two children a son, James Lucas Scott and a daughter Lydia Bob Scott. After graduating high school, Nathan had dreamed of becoming a professional basketball player but due to an accident, he was forced into a wheelchair hours before being able to join the Seattle Sonics. He began training basketball again to make a comeback with the help of the late Quentin Fields. He was then recruited by a D-League team named the Charleston Chiefs until he was drafted to the NBA. But after issues with his back he was forced to quit, and he later became a sports agent.
