The youngest of two siblings, her father, Baek Seung Won, and her mother, Jun Yae Bin raised the two of them up until she was 2 years old. Yae Bin unknowingly began to develop an addiction to drugs and gambling soon after Soo Ji’s first birthday. Not long after her second birthday, her parents divorced. Her father Seung Won declared their house over to Yae Bin, in exchange for Soo Ji and Eun Ji to be kept under his care. The three of them lived in a temporary apartment at the heart of Gwangju for 6 months. He occasionally sought out for help and advice from his brother, Seung Han, who was a successful director. - Eventually, Seung Won managed to land a job as a board member in a private company based in Singapore. However, Singapore was at the height of the real estate market at that time. He had no choice but to lease a house there. Almost everyday, he worked at home to look after Soo and Eun, who were at that time 2 and 4 respectively. After 5 months, Seung Won was stationed in Kuala Lumpur, not far from Singapore, and where real estate was far cheaper. That same year, he met Amber Liu, a colleague in the company he works for. He knew he could trust her to care for Soo and Eun. - Over the years, Soo and Eun were lovingly raised by their new soon-to-be mother Amber, who was of Chinese decent. Soo became surprisingly close to her grandfather-in-law and cousins during this time period. After their marriage, Soo’s parents enrolled her and her sister Eun into preschool. Soo developed many essential skills in preschool, such as beginner math and reading. Her preschool life was important for both her and her parents. At the age of 7, Soo was enrolled into Elementary school. There, she was constantly picked on jokingly because of her English. Not knowing that the others intentionally mean no harm, she decided to push herself to learn better English anyway. - By the age of 11, Soo was already fluent in English, due to her determination to learn it and also from attending compulsory English classes in elementary school. Her sister Eun could keep up easily, being a fast language learner. Soo made many friends during her late elementary days. But it wasn’t until High School where she became more confident in her social life. Soo was transferred to International School as soon as she left Year 9; a decision made by her mother, Amber. Despite leaving her memories and friends behind, she very much enjoyed her two year term at her new school with a better education system. Eun at that time had already graduated from High School. - Throughout her years of school, Soo was attracted to numerous guys of different personalities.
